Business of IP Asia Forum (BIPAsia) 2024 | Hong Kong
Mr. Chandrasekhar Raju of PatnTech had the pleasure of attending the Business of IP Asia Forum (BIPAsia), held in Hong Kong from December 5–6, 2024. The forum provided an excellent platform to connect with IP attorneys and professionals from China, Hong Kong, Macau, and the broader ASEAN region.
A highlight of the visit was the Entrepreneur Day (E-Day) event, which was organised alongside BIPAsia. E-Day showcased a wide range of innovative products developed by startups, university students, fire department personnel, police officers, and even school children. Each exhibit demonstrated a clear problem-solving approach, offering practical solutions with real-world impact.
It was particularly encouraging to see that many of these startups had already filed patent applications in Hong Kong, China, and the USA, with several achieving commercial success in international markets. The strong backing and proactive support from the Hong Kong government were evident, playing a vital role in helping innovators turn ideas into viable products.
Reflecting on this experience, Mr. Chandrasekhar observed the potential for Indian universities and startups to draw inspiration from such best practices. While India is rich in talent and ideas, many innovations showcased at local events still remain at the developmental stage, with a tendency to focus on incremental or “me-too” products.
There is a strong opportunity for Indian innovators to prioritise practical, market-ready solutions that address genuine challenges and have the potential to succeed globally. PatnTech remains committed to supporting innovation that drives meaningful impact and contributes to the growth of a robust IP ecosystem.
